For more than 300 years, Ede & Ravenscroft has served as the provider of specialist legal wear, including robes and wigs. Though England's requirements changed in 2008, wigs for barristers, judges and ceremonial occasions are still handcrafted in the small basement of Ede & Ravenscroft, which supplies all practitioners of the English system, including Australia, Hong Kong and Canada. Preview the new robes and observe employees fashioning horsehair wigs.
Stroll through a series of 30 underground vaults at The London Antique Silver Vaults, which sell an impressive range of silver and jewelry. Located in the heart of London's West End, the vaults date back to 1882 when they were originally the Chancery Lane Safe Deposit, unused by silver dealers and jewelers. "Find anything from a champagne Swizzle stick to a full size silver armchair!"
Start with conversation over lunch with London's premiere guide and art historian Sarah Ciacci, who will customize a tour of The National Portrait Gallery just for us, revealing "the good, the great, the dastardly, the complex, the dreamers and the doers, all of whom have not only played an important role in the history of this country, but also have wonderful stories to tell."

All participants and guests will travel to the English countryside to Broughton Castle, built by Sir John de Broughton in 1300, complete with moat, garden, gatehouse and church. We will be welcomed by the present day Lord and Lady Saye with delicious tea, and a fascinating tour of their home. Broughton Castle has been in their family since 1377.
In 1591 Shakespeare wrote about the original Lord Saye in King Henry The Sixth, Part Two, Act IV, Scene 2 when Dick The Butcher opines “The first thing we do is kill all the lawyers”, and Cade plans to have Lord Saye beheaded. Lord Saye actually loses his head in Scene 7.
While at Broughton Castle we will have an MCLE program, presented by an Oxford University scholar.
Friday evening is the social highlight of A Week in Legal London. Participants and registered guests will gather at Trinity House for the Closing Reception and Gala Dinner, 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm.
We are in the process of finalizing the details of the program. Please be sure to check back for updated program information.
